Our Legal Services

Tait Macleod provide a broad range of legal services and advice to our clients. We take pride in providing good advice in plain English.

Clients appreciate that for most legal needs all they have to do is contact us, and we are able to meet most requirements.

If we cannot assist due to the complexity of the legal or factual issues we are happy to refer clients to appropriate firms who can give the depth of specialist knowledge that is sometimes required and which a smaller firm cannot always offer.

Estate Agency

We offer a complete end-to-end house sale service, beginning with a free pre-sale valuation and marketing advice. We then prepare professional photographs, floor plans and key information about the property. We can advise in relation to the instruction of home reports. We additionally offer video walk throughs which have proved very popular and enhance online viewing.

Conveyancing

Tait Macleod provides a full conveyancing service for those selling or buying properties or both. Our professional staff give advice and assistance in relation to making and receiving offers.

Our firm then deal with all the legal “nitty gritty” including the negotiation of formal contracts, obtaining searches, legal reports and the myriad of other processes that are often needed to bring a house sale or purchase to a successful conclusion.

Commercial Property

With many years of experience in negotiating and concluding commercial leases, we can assist with the purchase and sale of commercial property.

Executries

It is always difficult when someone close to us passes away. We try to help smooth the legal process as much as possible. Clients often simply leave bags or boxes of paperwork with us; we are happy to take that work off their shoulders and get on with the work of finalising someone’s estate.

Wills

We always advise clients to prepare Wills and review them every five years or on any significant change in their family or circumstances. Most Wills are fairly straightforward but are essential to the smooth winding-up of an estate when someone dies.

Powers of Attorney

Powers of Attorney are often likened to insurance. You pay for it but hope you never need it. However, if should you need it, you be glad you have it.

If people lose the mental capacity to make decisions for themselves then their family or those closest to them need legal authority to make decisions for them. In the absence of a Power of Attorney the only way to obtain such powers is to make an application to court, which may cost several thousand pounds depending on the cost of medical reports and the length of any procedure.

Employment Law

Fraser Tait has a Master’s degree in employment law and advises on a wide range of employment issues. He also provides common sense guidance on the human resources issues that employers experience from to time to time.

We give advice and support to employers and employees up to and including representation at employment tribunals.

Family Law

We understand it is possibly the most difficult time in the life of a client and their family when there are issues arising from a family break up.

Tait Macleod provide advice grounded in the law but with a personal touch tempered by experience of our own family lives.

We give clear advice and guidance on issues relating to children and financial matters.

Civil Litigation

We advise on a broad range of legal issues and disputes covering simple procedure cases through Sheriff Court disputes to more complicated Court of Session actions.

Previous cases we’ve handled include debt recovery, property disputes, breaches of contract, warranty claims and the like.
